Journalists in Ukraine: The Latest on the Battle Against Disinformation
The invasion of Ukraine has turned journalists into war correspondents at extreme physical risk and placed them on the frontlines of the battle against disinformation. Invading forces are blowing up broadcast towers, killing and kidnapping reporters, and depriving the Ukrainian people of trustworthy information when they need it most. Join us for a conversation on the latest developments with Ukrainian journalist and nonprofit leader Galyna Petrenko. As part of our Turn the Mic Around conversation series, Internews President Jeanne Bourgault will interview her about the current state of independent media in Ukraine, how journalists are continuing to report, and how media outlets are fighting back against disinformation. Galyna is a seasoned journalist, an expert on countering disinformation and currently directs the Ukranian nonprofit Detector Media.
Turn the Mic Around is Internews’ conversation series. Each month, you’ll hear behind-the-scenes stories from journalists operating in conflict zones, emerging democracies, and humanitarian crises as they deliver trustworthy information to communities that need it most. These conversations are worthy of your time, and we’ll keep them short: a 15-minute interview with 15 minutes for you to ask questions.
