One of the biggest events of the ICT sector “Digital World 2022” is going to kick off in December 

One of the biggest events of ICT sector “Digital World 2022”, will be organized in Bangladesh upcoming December. In continuation of the previous years, this event will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) located in Agargaon Shere-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka on 8-11 December 2022 to inform the capabilities of digital Bangladesh at the local and international level. In light of this, on Wednesday night, October 26, 2022, the ICT Division of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh organized an “Ambassador Night” at the “Sheraton Dhaka” hotel located in Banani, capital Dhaka. The government wants to open new horizons for attracting foreign investment as an exporter of ICT products from Made in Bangladesh through Digital World.

This Ambassador Night is organized as an initiative to inform foreign countries about Digital World 2022 and to invite foreign guests. It was attended by ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Morocco, Brunei, Turkey, Dubai, Sweden, South Korea, European Union, Australia, Bhutan and many more countries.

The Hon’ble Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen MP spoke as the chief guest at the program. He said that Digital World 2022 will be a unique opportunity to showcase the capabilities of Bangladesh in the technology sector to the world. We hope this event will give us an idea of our capabilities and future opportunities in the technology sector. Our people have proved how capable they are. We had a clear target to implement Digital Bangladesh with the guidance of our Honorable Prime Minister and the advice from the Honorable ICT Adviser. The Bangladesh you see today is the result of the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister. If you have a dream, we can make it happen; Not only on paper but also in reality.

Bangladesh wants to move forward with friendly countries in the ICT sector Mentioning that the foreign minister said that the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has given us the foreign policy of “friendship with all, enmity with none” and we are following it. We want you all by our side on that journey. Finally, in his speech, the foreign minister thanked the representatives of the foreign countries present at the event.

In the speech of the special guest, the Honorable State Minister for the ICT Division Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP said, We have been organizing this international event since 2011. We invite global leaders, researchers and investors to participate in this event. We want them to visit our market, see our capabilities. We want to be self-sufficient in the digital sector. Also want to work in partnership with other countries of the world.

Meanwhile, the State Minister of ICT sought the cooperation of their respective ambassadors to participate in the Digital World of Finance or ICT Ministers from different countries.

Palak also said that we have created more than two million employment opportunities in the ICT sector so far. About 1.5 billion in ICT sector’s export earnings. The target is to increase employment to three million and ICT exports to five billion by 2025. We have now brought nearly two thousand government services digitally. 80 percent of the mobiles sold in the country are now manufactured in the country.

The Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Mr. Mohammad Enamul Kabir gave a welcome speech to the event. The program was chaired by The Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Mr. Ranajit Kumar.
After that Mr. Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh Ltd., highlighted different aspects of the program. BACCO Finance Secretary Md. Aminul Hoque, BCS President Mr. Subrata Sarkar, e-Cab President Ms. Shomi Kaiser and BASIS President Mr. Russell T Ahmed spoke at the program.

Among others, the Senior Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Masud Bin Momen and the Senior Secretary of ICT Division Mr. N M Zeaul Alam PAA, the ambassadors include Australia’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr Jeremy Bruer, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Mustafa Osman Turan, Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Alexandra Berg von Linde, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Mr. Lee Jang-keun, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan and Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union (EU) Charles Whiteley spoke at the program.

In addition to the opening and closing ceremonies, this year’s Digital World 2022 will also feature startup summits, ministerial conferences, BPO summits, e-governance expo, digital devices and innovation expo, mobile and innovation expo, software showcases, e-commerce expo and concerts. The theme of this year’s Digital World is “Be Innovative & Smart”.
